Healthy Fast Food – Yes, and All of Them Under 400 Calories!

Only have time for a quick lunch? Is your day too busy to stop and have a nice meal? When you are on the go, fast food is a go-to option.  Fast food is quick, easy, and convenient.  But can it be healthy? The answer is yes! Here are some great healthy eating choices at some of your favorite fast-food restaurants and all of them are under 400 calories!

Wendy’s 

  1. Apple Pecan Chicken Sandwich Half Size (340 cal.)
  2. Southwest Avocado Chicken Salad Half Size (300 cal.)
  3. Grilled Chicken Sandwich (370 cal.)
  4. Grilled Chicken Wrap (300 cal.)
  5. Large Chili (250 cal.)
  6. Plain Baked Potato (270 cal.)

Wendy’s is known for its yummy salads. The Berry Burst Chicken Salad is a plate full of fruits and veggies and is a personal favorite when it is in season.  The Apple Pecan Chicken Salad comes in as a favorite as well (you can ask for no bleu cheese if you aren’t a fan).  When you are looking for something warm and filling, a large chili or a baked potato still comes in under 400 calories!

McDonald’s

  1. Fruit ‘N Yogurt Parfait (210 Cal.)
  2. Fruit & Maple Oatmeal (310 Cal.)
  3. Egg McMuffin (300 Cal.)
  4. Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich (330 Cal. without Mayo)
  5. Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad (330 Cal.)
  6. Bacon Ranch Grilled Chicken Salad (300 Cal.)

Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, there are quite a number of healthy options at McDonald’s. Try the Fruit & Maple Oatmeal or Egg McMuffin for a healthy breakfast with whole ingredients! For Lunch, try the Artisan Grilled Chicken Sandwich which doesn’t have the unhealthy extras. My favorite go-to snack at McDonald’s is the Fruit ‘N Yogurt Parfait and it is only 210 Calories!

Chick-fil-A has a Superfood Side! This healthy bowl includes a kale blend, dried cherries, and a nut blend. You could combine this superfood side with a Greek Yogurt Parfait w/ Granola (270 Cal.) and your body will thank you!  Or you could combine a little fun with the healthy and order some fries with it . . . we won’t judge. 🙂

Taco Bell has a reputation for being one of the healthier fast-food restaurants because of its Fresco Style.  When you choose Fresco style, you are replacing pico de gallo for cheese, guacamole, and sour cream.   There are many menu options you can change to Fresco Style and it cuts down on the calories and increases the veggies.  Pretty genius idea!

It is refreshing to know that you have a number of healthy choices when you are on the go and need a quick meal at a fast-food restaurant.  Even though it is fast-food, it still can have quality whole ingredients with plenty of veggies and fruit.
